Manchester Mini Masters 2009, 11 April 

On Saturday 11th April ‘Squire’ Richard Gottfried won the inaugural Manchester Mini Masters minigolf tournament at the 9-hole Championship MiniatureGolf course @ Playgolf Manchester. The competition was played over 27-holes and in a field of twelve players Richard won with a three round total of 81.

In second place with a score of 86 was current British Number One Chris Harding. Paul Johnson was third with 87.

Luton’s Richard Gottfried, a member of the Midlands Minigolf Club, said "It feels great to be the Manchester Mini Masters champion and to win by five clear shots is brilliant. The course is incredibly tough with some tricky water hazards but is great fun to play, the practice I put in on the Friday paid off. I am looking forward to defending my title next year and wearing the Championship MiniatureGolf winner’s shirt with pride."

During the competition London Minigolf Club member Ruth Bullin equalled the course record of 24, held by course owner Nick Ashfield.

In the Junior Manchester Mini Masters competition Birmingham’s Matthew Harding defeated five other players to take the title with a three round total of 93. Second was Andy Roddis with 95, and in third was Rocky Bullin with 98. Owen Johnson, the other BMGA junior competing, finished in fifth place.

The Championship MiniatureGolf course is made up of nine mini versions of world-famous golf holes. At Playgolf Manchester you can play accurate, challenging versions of the 16th at Augusta, the 17th at St Andrews, and the 18th at The Belfry, all within minutes of each other. Constructed using high quality all-weather putting surfaces, the holes vary in length from 10 to 20 metres.
