Setting up a Miniature Golf Club

Why should you form a club?

The advantages of having a club

For Players

Meeting like-minded people - well mostly!
Transport sharing to and from the course and to other competitions. Very green! Very appropriate.

Discounted play, especially when you affiliate your local course to the BMGA.
Sharing ideas and techniques.
Sharing information on lines and help each other plotting courses.
Running an Invitational tournament open to your members only.

For the Course owner / manager

Repeat custom. Especially when they're practising for a competition.
Publicity in the local media, particularly in the club pages of your local newspapers, directories and websites.
Building community links.
Free marketing - someone else will be trying to get new members and introducing them to the delights of your course.  There's nothing like word of mouth advertising.
Help in running charity tournaments. Always good for a column inch or two.
A think tank for improvements to the course.
A team dedicated to spotting maintenance issues.
Added security, watching out for and warning people damaging the course or misbehaving.

Organising a Miniature Golf Tournament

Anyone wishing to organise a tournament in the UK should contact the BMGA for further advice. UK tournaments should be held under the BMGA banner, which will enable:

a) Details of the tournament to be sent to BMGA members
b) The tournament to be publicised on the BMGA's web-site*
c) Free advice on organisational aspects
d) The results of the tournament to count towards the official British rankings

* Certain qualifications apply for prize money tournaments.

The BMGA will be introducing a licensing system for future UK tournaments.
