Pre-event Press Release
The 2010 British Minigolf Association Tour continues on Sunday 28th February when the Jungle Rumble Adventure Golf course at Cabot Circus in Bristol hosts the BMGA English Open competition.
Over 30 British Minigolf Association (BMGA) Tour players, along with a number of local players, are expected to compete over three rounds (54-holes) on the two 18-hole indoor Adventure Minigolf courses.
The BMGA Tour consists of Minigolf ranking events that take place at Minigolf, Crazy Golf and Adventure Golf courses across the UK. Last year there were 22 BMGA Tour competitions and a total of 16 players lifted BMGA Tour titles.
The Jungle Rumble complex is home to two 18-hole Adventure Golf Courses in Cabot Circus Shopping Centre in Bristol. Competitors will be playing through a number of obstacles and settings, including a Secret Swamp, a Scary Jungle, Temple Ruins, Aztec Surroundings and a Live Volcano!
Jungle Rumble Owner Angus Wright said “We are about all age groups getting together for a laugh and a drink so it is going to be fascinating seeing people who take the game a little more seriously, but still know how to have a good time. We intend to offer a prize for the best local competitor too so we would encourage everyone to enter and see if they can beat the best. We wish all the competitors the best of luck!”
BMGA Chairman Sean Homer said “We are delighted to be making our first trip to Bristol’s Jungle Rumble as part of the 2010 tour. The venue and location are superb, and with the competition being played out across two top class courses we are guaranteed a terrific event on the 28th. The quality of the field is shaping up nicely with top players from across the country along with a strong showing of local players. It’s our first time at the course so it will be a real leveller and impossible to call regarding who will triumph. Whatever happens, it is bound to be a great event! ”
This will be the first BMGA minigolf tournament held at the Jungle Rumble course and the 2010 BMGA English Open will be the 12th edition of the competition. Last year’s English Open was won by London’s Nick Chitty, a member of the Planet Hastings Crazy Golf Club, who won the title in Hoveton, Norfolk.
Heading into the 2010 season Tim ‘Ace Man’ Davies from Hastings currently sits atop the BMGA Order of Merit Rankings, while Brighton’s Peter Emmerson was ranked number one in last year’s BMGA Season-Only Ranking list.
