BMGA BRITISH MASTERS 2010
Andy Exall is the Master!
Andy Exall from Paddock Wood, Kent, won the 11th annual BMGA British Masters minigolf tournament at the
Jurassic Encounter Adventure Golf
course at World of Golf, New Malden on Sunday 21st March.
40 players took part in the event, with British Minigolf Association (BMGA) Tour players, and a number of local and novice players competing in the two round (36-hole) tournament on the 18-hole Dinosaur themed Adventure Golf course. London’s Nick Chitty took the runner-up spot in the competition. Two players tied for third place and after a play-off Oxford’s Michael Smith took 3rd place, with London’s Brad Shepherd taking 4th.
New BMGA British Master Andy Exall said “It was very good to get the win at a course that was, as predicted, going to produce very close scores. The final round was good fun, with me, Nick Chitty and Michael Smith all playing well. Nick had a run of three aces in three holes which I thought was for the win, but he dropped a couple of shots which put us all on a three way tie after 15 holes! The 16th was a very tense hole, the volcano! I went first and opted to play for the very risky ace, luckily it was a good line and it dropped, Michael then tried the same and was left an impossible putt for a two, ending up with a three. Next was Nick, who laid-up for a safeish two. I then aced the next hole alone which left me two strokes up for the last hole, after an uneventful two all round it was time to don the famous Masters Jacket!”
Also at the event Leo Kukielka from Cwmbran, Wales, took the junior British Masters title, with Cambridge’s Adam Kelly 2nd and Birmingham’s Owen Johnson 3rd.
Commenting on his junior title win Leo Kukielka said “I am very pleased to have won. I knew that Adam was not far behind me so I tried to be consistent and not get many 3's. When I got a six on hole 16, I knew Adam had scored a five as he was in the group ahead of me, so I just had to keep my head to finish the last two holes. Thankfully I got 2's and finally won a junior title. COME ON!!”
Michael Smith also picked up the Novice title along, Richard Skeggs took the runner-up novice spot and Marc Brickwood was the third place novice. 16 rookie players took part in the competition.

Anthony Pope and Adam Kelly win the Jurassic Classic Doubles Competition
On Saturday 20th March the BMGA organised a pre-British Masters warm-up doubles event at the Jurassic Encounter Adventure Golf course at World of Golf, New Malden.
Nine teams took part in the Jurassic Classic Doubles Competition and the event was won by the team of Anthony Pope and Adam Kelly. Chris Harding and Cindy Kukielka were runners-up, with Nick Chitty and Jas Kukielka third.

9) Alan Norman & Owen Johnson - 90
BMGA Chairman Sean Homer said “Congratulations to Anthony & Adam for a great performance and to all who took part in what we hope will be the first of many pre-BMGA competition friendly warm-up events!”
The format of the event saw the 18 players split into two pools by current BMGA rankings - 9 top players in one hat, everyone else in another. A draw was then made to see who would be paired with each other.
The competition used a mixture of various rules - 3 Groups of 2 pairs, and 1 group of 3 pairs. Teams alternated tee-offs (A rolling start from Hole 1) but with the higher ranked player always teeing-off first in each pair. Strokeplay rules were used, and each player played out the hole in turn. After 9 holes, the scores were tallied up (combined for each pair). The groups were then drawn in
leader board order for the back 9. After all 18 holes were played, the full scores were totalled up and the pair with the lowest combined score won.

Minigolf Event – British Minigolf Tour heads to New Malden for the BMGA British Masters at the Jurassic EncounterThe 2010 British Minigolf Association Tour continues on Sunday 21st March when the Jurassic Encounter Adventure Golf course at World of Golf, New Malden hosts the BMGA British Masters competition.
Over 30 British Minigolf Association (BMGA) Tour players, along with a number of local players, are expected to compete over two rounds (36-holes) on the 18-hole Dinosaur themed Adventure Golf courses.
The BMGA Tour consists of Minigolf ranking events that take place at Minigolf, Crazy Golf and Adventure Golf courses across the UK. Last year there were 22 BMGA Tour competitions and a total of 16 players lifted BMGA Tour titles.
Jurassic Encounter Adventure Golf is an 18-hole Florida Styled miniature golf course with a Jurassic theme. The course is beautifully landscaped and gives players the chance to putt past cascading waterfalls, over island greens and through prehistoric caves and even come face to face with a number of Animatronic Dinosaurs.
World of Golf’s Stuart Madden said "We are honoured that the BMGA have chosen to hold one of their key events of the year with us and I am thoroughly looking forward to what promises to be a thrilling event."
BMGA Chairman Sean Homer said "We are delighted to be making our first trip to Jurassic Adventure Golf in New Malden as part of the 2010 tour. The venue and location are superb, and the quality of the field is shaping up nicely with top players from across the country lining up to play along with hopefully a strong showing of local players. It’s our first time at the course so it will be a real leveller and impossible to call regarding who will triumph. Whatever happens, it is bound to be a great event!"
This will be the first official BMGA minigolf tournament held at the Jurassic Encounter course and the 2010 BMGA British Masters will be the 11th edition of the competition.
Last year’s BMGA British Masters was won by Chris Jones, a member of the London Minigolf Club, who won the title in Southend-on-Sea.
After two events in the 2010 BMGA Tour season Chris Harding from Birmingham currently sits atop both the BMGA Order of Merit Rankings and Season Only Ranking list.
