Playability:

Design:

Difficulty Level:

4 Some holes involve a great deal of fortune. The fifth has the hole positioned halfway up a ramp! The holes themselves are very small and quite shallow and will only accept two balls at a time! The holes 10 -18 have been added in the last three years and are pretty tough tests. At the 10th your ball will come to rest in a corner 8 feet from the pin (if you don't ace it) and unless you sink any subsequent putt, will end up back at your feet again! The metal hazards on the back nine are not very well designed and even negotiating the ramps and tubes will not aid an ace.

Skill Factor:

5 (I would like to see the top players play this course!)

Maintenance:

4 The course is reasonably well looked after. The wood on the first nine is showing signs of age and is rotting away in places. The grass is kept tidy. The concrete based holes are also showing signs of wear in places, with pits and dents a-plenty.

Sustainability:

4 Fun and reasonable price but we won’t be going back.

Other factors:

Appearance:

6 Like a Monet.  Looks OK from a distance but up close…. Oh dear?!

Environment:

8 Set in a very nice quiet park, with a lovely family atmosphere. No signs of vandalism. Plenty of free car parking.

Equipment:

5 Metal headed putters in all sizes. Good selection of balls NO scorecards provided though!

Originality:

5 A fair attempt at a budget course.

Venue Facilities:

7 Nice family space, with Paddling Pool, excellent childrens playground and playing fields attached. Small café on site, but loses points for not serving hot food!

Vicinity Facilities:

7 Miniature Steam Engine Club adjacent to course. (Summer weekends only.)

Value for money:

5 It's cheap so can't carp too much.

Reviewer comments:

My family have played this course a couple of times and it is a pleasant round, but don't expect low scores. Family fun only and not one for the purists. The sloping concrete bases make for frustrating putts!
