British Junior Minigolf Championships 2005

This is the write-up for the Junior Minigolf Championship 2005 held at the Stratford minigolf course. Only four contenders arrived and they were: Ben Dexter, Jamie Howsen, Mitchell Vallory and Rocky Bullin. 

In the first round Rocky nearly aced the 1st but just missed to the right. He got a three on the 10th but made it up with an ace on the 11th. On the 6th he hit the bricks, but played an impressive shot off the bricks for a two. Shame, if only he had not played such a rubbish shot in the first place. He would have liked to have aced the 1st but overall he enjoyed the day. His next big thing is the world crazy's. 

Two effortful rounds by Ben saw him shoot three aces on the 14th, 2nd and 4th. He nearly aced the 3rd but Mr Whippy'ed the hole and got it in in two (would you like a flake with that one?) He would like to have got more aces on the 5th and 9th. Ben really enjoyed playing in the two rounds and looks forward to his next event on the British tour.

Jamie is a big golf player but shows talent in minigolf with two competitive rounds. He aced the 16th and another one but fell in the ditch on the 9th. He then played an extraordinary 2nd shot and got it in, (good shot Jamie!) He liked the competitive atmosphere and showed interest in the specialist equipment and will keep in touch.

Mitchell, like Rocky has been playing for a few years. Mitchell's experience told as he shot 6 aces, including one in each round on the 18th! He also aced the 2nd, 6th, the tricky 13th and the 14th. Mitchell said afterwards that he really enjoyed the tournament.

It was a close match between 1st and 2nd but in the end, after a tense and thrilling competition, it was Rocky who won with a 43 and a 38, followed by Mitchell with a 45 and a 41, 3rd Jamie with 53 and 42 then Ben with a 60 and a 58.

The competition was then followed by a friendly round between all the junior players - very encouraging for the future of minigolf.
